The City of Glasgow is delighted to be welcoming BASEES 2023 to the city and kindly invites all BASEES attendees to a drinks reception to be held at City Chambers in the centre of the city.  This is an excellent opportunity to meet other delegates and presenters in beautiful surroundings.   Drinks and canapes will be served and there is no charge to attend.  Please bring your badge with you as security will need to know that you are part of the conference.  There is no set dress code

Public transport
From the University of Glasgow, exit the main gate and turn left down University Avenue and right onto Byres Road.
Hillhead subway station is on the right.
Take the subway to Buchanan Street Station.
Exit the subway and pass Queen Street train station onto George Square.
The City Chambers is on the far side of George Square.

BASEES drinks reception

All BASEES attendees are cordially invited to attend a drinks reception in Hunter Hall.  There is no charge to attend and there is no set dress code

BASEES conference dinner

Saturday 1st April 20:15 to approximately 22:30

Tickets are available to purchase when you register.  You can also go back into your registration to buy a ticket if you have already registered.  There is a limit on the number of seats available so don’t leave it too late to buy yours.  There is no set dress code

Catering options

Tea and coffee breaks are open to all and are included in your delegate fee.  Timings for these are in your programme.  The main area for breaks is in the Hunter Hall exhibition area, but if you are over in the James Watt South building and want to remain there for the next session there will be a small coffee and tea table there at break times

The Gilchrist Café
A smallish café situated in the main building and open on all three conference days serving coffee, tea, cold drinks and snacks.

The James McCune Smith Learning Hub
Just across the road from the main entrance, a large café area with a variety of food and drinks outlets 
Friday and Saturday, a full café service will be available
Sunday, a reduced café offering of sandwiches and hot drinks will be on offer

Please note, there are no water dispensers on site.  Please bring water with you, or you can purchase bottles of water at the Gilchrist Café or the James McCune Smith Learning Hub above

Off-site
Byers Road and Gibson Street are a short walking distance from the venue and offer a wide range of food and drinks outlets.  Byers Road also has various shops including a pharmacy
